The Buralls operate a diversified farm in Frederick County, Maryland. They produce corn, wheat, soybeans, hay, and straw on 1,000 acres. In addition, they raise beef steers, pigs, goats, and sheep. While Jarrod and Becky grew up on family farms, they each left their respective family operations to start this farming venture together. It all started when they were approached by retiring farmers who were hoping to pass their farm to a younger generation. In 2017, Jarrod and Becky moved to this farm and, as the saying goes, the rest is history! The couple has seized this amazing opportunity to start a farm of their own and are working to turn their lifelong dreams of building their own family farm into a reality. They take a hands-on approach to every aspect of their farm!

At Burall Farms, we practice regenerative farming, which involves using methods that improve soil health, encourage biodiversity, and reduce our overall environmental impact.
By purchasing meats, you are supporting our local family farm! We are committed to humanely raising the finest quality meats, fed with crops that we also cultivate and process from scratch. Buying Burall Farms' meats means you are getting a high quality product that you can have confidence in sharing with your friends and family!
We currently sell individual cuts of beef, pork, lamb, and goat for pre-order (see order links under each meat option) and pickup at Burall's Farmstand, their on-farm pick up stand. Bulk half and whole beef is also available.
At this time, we do not ship our meats. Products can be ordered here through the online link and are available for pickup at our Farmstand only.
All products are processed and packaged at a local USDA processing facility with USDA certified inspector on site. All meats are individually packaged and vacuum sealed for freshness.
We use antibiotics to our livestock, only when necessary for life saving situations or illness under veterinary guidance. However, those animals are pulled from our on farm meat sales. All meat sold from Burall's Farmstand is 100% free of any antibiotics.
Our livestock and therefore our meat is 100% free of any kind of growth hormones or any other added hormones. While we recognize that science has proven the safety of hormone use in growing livestock, we also realize and respect that our customers prefer meats from livestock that are hormone-free.
Cover crops, no-till conservation, and crop rotation are key to crop production for the Buralls. They highly value their soil health and work hard to preserve soil structures while enhancing microbial activity. They use cover crops from fall to spring when fields would otherwise lay fallow. By keeping living roots in the soil as much as possible, cover crops recycle nitrogen in the soil, help build soil organic matter, and improve soil structures as well as enhance water infiltration. Utilizing cover crops also decreases weed pressure in the early spring, reduces compaction, and helps the couple to maintain their continuous 100% no-till conservation practices. Minimal soil disturbance with no-till farming means carbon remains in the soil, where it belongs.
The Buralls built their first steer barn with the oversight of the local NRCS (Soil Conservation) in 2023. This is a finishing barn for steers which is the first of its kind in their region, featuring slatted flooring (as seen in photo to left). The manure pit collects all manure under the building, minimizing excess rain water collection and removing any opportunities for manure run-off. The couple plans to expand integrative farming practices with this. By utilizing manure collected and applying it to crop acres, they plan to decrease commercial fertilizer inputs by 40% in the next growing season and beyond. They will plan these manure applications to minimize impacts to local water resources and utilize a soil aerator after application to maximize nutrient absorption while eliminating major soil tillage.
Working closely with their livestock nutritionist, Burall Farms raises their livestock 100% with crops they grow. This insures their animals get high-quality feed that is made fresh daily! In turn, they fully integrate their farming enterprises by using the livestock manure to reduce the use of commercial fertilizers on their crop production acres. This integration also reduces emissions associated with hauling of feedstuffs and commercial fertilizer to the farm from outside sources.
